The search and struggle for control of three meteorites with strange powers. This story tells of science, adventure, hunger for power, political motives and murderous intent.Long ages ago on Mars, living stones form and they become known as trolls. The trolls witness the fall of 3 meteorites, or more precisely 3 parts of one meteorite (the Red, Blue and Green skystones of the story). After men evolve on Mars the meteorites are found and controlled by 3 people. It becomes known that the stones give long life to the bearers as well as some other abilities which are slowly revealed in the story. All who live near the stones also have long life. Only a few people can actually handle the stones. The Red stone is found by a man of the south (Merak Savai) who builds an empire (Mera) on the power of the stone. The Blue and Green stones are found by a Northern man of science and his wife (Ruben and Carmen Ribossa). Ruben takes the green stone from the possession of the western Kobold (goblins) with the help of a troll and is aided in his escape by men of the forest. The Kobold were long before defeated and subdued by Ruben’s brother (Martin Ribossa) who disappeared from the North lands. The southern emperor sends his son (Madrahk) north to find the stones. He meets and falls in love with Ruben and Carmen’s daughter (Julia).Madrahk and Julia with her uncle (Henry Hagen) and Hagen’s ward (Isabel) journey to the home of Madrahk. When they arrive in Mera City they are met by Madrahk’s sister (Marissa) who informs Madrahk that their parents have been murdered and she has executed the perpetrator and all of his family. After a time of grieving, Madrahk is crowned emperor and he settles into the task of governing the empire. He asks Henry Hagen to be his advisor. Julia gives birth to a son but the child dies after a few weeks. Julia is grief stricken and Madrahk asks Hagen to take her home to her parents to help ease her pain.Marissa accompanies them as it seems to all that she is attracted to Hagen. On their journey north they stop at the city of Regus Arnath for a time. Marissa lingers there and with two students (Jack and James) she researches in the great library of the city. They are trying to find the history of the lost northern empire. They decide to venture to the western reaches where they encounter the Kobold.
